Lost & Found

Ozzy is demonstrating his best roll on stinky stuff. He is quite skilled at picking up lovely aromas, but for some reason Mum is not impressed. Today however Mum is babying him and is not worried about how dirty he is. Why? Somehow he escaped from our back fence and made his way a couple miles down the road. I think he was heading to the dog park. Two women found him and took him to a vets office in a neighboring city. Fortunately Ozzy has a micro chip and the vet was able to call Mum. The weird thing is he was wearing two collars, his regular collar and a choke chain which was not removed after his last walk. Both of his collars were missing... Very suspicious.
I was not involved in his disappearance-honest!Of course Mum had to go to the pet store to buy a new collar, she was so happy to have Ozzy back that she bought him new toys. I offered to help break in his new squeaky cat.

It's got that funny new toy flavor.

It's not as durable as our good Cuz. I was able to chew off two feet and part of an ear. Mum may take it back , she worries it may be a choking hazard. She'll have to sneak it away, I LOVE it!

Shattered Sunday

We are still trying to come to grips with the passing of our friend Oscar. I am very sad and mopey.

Stewy isn't in the mood for fun today either.
Ozzy the youngest of our group volunteered to blog today. He has a show and tell, OR should I say a show and tattle-tale.
Hi everypup, it's me Ozzy.

My hooman sister J-I has something called an armadillo lizard. She keeps the spiky creature named Maynard in an aquarium and feeds him poor little crickets. I like to sit in front of the aquarium at night and listen to the cricket's sing, Mum catches me in J-I's bedroom intently looking into the tank. Last weekend J-I asked Mum to keep an eye on Maynard while she was away for a few days. I volunteered to help and I was quite serious about my duties. J-I moved the tank into our living room so it would be easy for Mum and I to keep watch over Maynard.

Ahem... I hate to tell on Mum but she is a bit of a rough-houser. Sunday evening Mum yelled out "where's your ball, where's your ball"? How can a dog resist? I brought her Nugget's Cuz and we played fetch. Mum would bounce the ball from the kitchen off the wall in the dining room into the living room, and I would bring it back. It was all good fun until -crash! Somehow the women with a non-existent throwing arm managed to bounce that ball straight into the lizard's aquarium. Poor Maynard was not hurt, but I know he must have been terrified as he tried to become one with his little log house.

We were able to buy a new tank even though it was past 11pm; thank Dogness for the 24/7 Wal-Mart. J-I has since put Maynard back in her room, and Mum has been asked to roll balls in the house from now on -The fish sitting on our kitchen table is ever-so grateful.

I hope this doesn't hurt my chances of lizard sitting in the future.

Digging Season Has Begun

Ozzy happened upon Stewy's handy work. Mum just hates hole digging.... she mutters to herself that she is going to break her ankle one day. All spring and summer long Mum fills the holes and Stewy digs them, round and round they go. Our poor back yard & garden, once lovely is now a hazard. At least Mum knows who is responsible and does not try to pin it on me or Ozzy.
Ozzy doesn't see the point, and Mum is happy about that!

Rainy Day Entertainment

Ok, so it's been raining for two days straight! Mum refuses to take us to the dog park because she says it will be a giant mud pit. For entertainment I am teaching Ozzy my cat hunting strategy. I sit quietly on the steps that over look our front entry hall and living room. When the silly cat strolls by I quickly race down the stairs and blast her with my best beagle voice. This is just pretend hunting because our Cat is tough and scratches, I just like to scare her. hehehe
Ozzy is good at this game, he learned fast.

Hmmm..... where is that cat.

I am off to bed; Mum said she and Dad are going to take us for walkies in the morning.

A Beagle Sunning Lesson

Stewy decided that Ozzy needed to learn how to relax.
Stewy is an expert in sunning, he says it keeps his Beagle pressure down.
Step one: Raise your face to the sun and soak in the warm rays.
Step two: Visualize the dog park and breathe.
I think he's got it! I guess those terror-terrier's are pretty smart after all.
Fresh air and sun make Stewy sleepy.

Ozzy Visits The Dog Groomer

Mum is letting me blog on her account. Today we took a car ride, and I thought we were going to the dog park. It was just me and Mum and that should have tipped me off. I think I heard Stewy and Nugget snicker as we headed out.

She took me to a Grooomer, a nice lady with smelly bubbles, scissors, brushes and lots of other stuff I've never seen before. Mum says that I am very handsome now. (I was always handsome) This is me being picked up from the grooomer by Dad and Mum. Mum had to take my picture for the "girls" in the office.

Is this my best side?

Nugget says she doesn't recognize me.
The grooomer was nice; but I don't need to do it again!

Welcome To Our Beagle-Room

Posted by Picasa
Mum got a new sofa. It sits in our living room; a large room no one enters unless it is a holiday or some sort of occasion. Mum sat in there the other night to read but that is unusual. Since a perfectly good sofa was going to waste Stewy and I claimed it for naps. Mum kept getting after us to stay off... She kept ranting about our shedding on it. Geez... we can't help that! Mum came to her senses and put a nice quilt on it for us. She said she gives up trying to keep us off. Finally, she understands a Beagle’s need for comfort. Whenever she is not looking I tunnel underneath the quilt and become one with the fluffy pillows. Ozzy is a little slow and does not understand the joy of sofa lounging! Stewy and I are trying our best to train him.

Baths, T-Shirts, What's Next!

This past weekend Ozzy went to visit with family and one of the little girls wanted to give him a bath. He came home slightly wet and smelling of baby shampoo, he still has his dreadlocks. I gave him Miss Nugget's t-shirt; she is a bit round in the belly for it and looks like a stuffed sausage. Ozzy looked cuter in the t-shirt than this picture shows, however RR made me take it off him because he kept going round and round in circles trying to bite it off.

All Wet

This is Ozzy’s first visit to the dog park, and as you can see he is completely soaked. This was not our best dog park visit, or at least not for Mum. First off, it was rainy and cold. Ozzy ran straight for the main pond, jumped in and started to swim! Stewy and I like to wade a bit, but Ozzy was swimming around like it was a hot summer day. Once mum got him out he needed to poop and for the first time Mum forgot to bring plastic bags. A nice lady pointed out Ozzy’s poop for Mum. The park has plastic boxes for volunteers to leave clean bags for just this purpose. The boxes are labeled “Clean Plastic Bags Only”, but what did Mum find? First box, a latte cup and paper trash, no clean bags. The second box held a bag with poop, no clean bags. The third and final box was filled with water and clean bags, but some ridiculous human dropped in poop and it wasn’t in a bag. Mum carefully avoided the poop and pulled out a sopping wet plastic bag for the poop. Poop in hand and on the way to the trash Mum slipped in the nice thick mud and fell poop and all. Stewy and I thought this was great fun, but Mum started muttering to herself. I couldn’t quite make out all that she was saying but some of those words are not allowed in our house. We went home early because Mum was cold, muddy and very wet! I did hear her tell dad that she is going to volunteer at the dog park, stocking plastic bags and cleaning up. This is very good news because I know she will take us along!

Yay, No More Cone-Collar!

Ozzy somehow took the collar off himself this morning. When RR discovered him with it off Ozzy must have thought he was busted and tried to put his head back in. He isn't licking so we are letting him leave it off.

Poor Ol' Ozzy

This is so humiliating.

Ozzy must wear this e-collar for 7-10 days. He is not happy about it and has been running into walls, people and even Stewy and me. He keeps whining for Mum to take it off. We don’t know why Mum let the Vet person put this thing on Ozzy but we are glad it’s him and not us. Today Ozzy did figure out how to pick up his stuff toys and even played his favorite game of fetch the bunny.
I thought they liked me.

Fun & Games

Now we know why Terrier's are nicknamed Terrier-ists or Terrors. Ozzy loves games, fetch, tug o' war, and kill the stuffed cat. OK, maybe that’s not a wise game to play when you are trying to teach him to leave the real Cat alone. Our family room looks as if we have small children again; it is strewn with balls, stuffed toys, etc... We are growing more and more attached to Ozzy it is going to be hard to give him up when the time comes. RR keeps saying maybe we should just tell Ozzy's adopted family we have decided to keep him. I won't do that, but I will remind them he can come back anytime!
